DougCo Drop – February 5: Legendary pork chops, 17 Valentine's plans, and more

Legendary pork chops, 17 Valentine's plans, and more

Have been meaning to get over to Perry's for about six months now, but for whatever reason it hasn't worked out. Well, I made it on Sunday and, thankfully, my life before experiencing Perry's has now ended. For those of you who have been, no explanation needed. For those of you who haven't, I’d highly recommend giving this place a shot. Head on over to Park Meadows and give it a try.

I split their famous pork chop and their ribeye. Not that the ribeye was bad, but if/when I go back, I'm sticking with the pork chop only. Pork falling off the bone, more meat than you know what to do with, and a flavor that’s hard to put into words. A cool touch is that it's carved up in front of you tableside.

Oh, I didn't start or stop there. Started things off with the Caesar salad which was very large, had anchovies (I'm a fan), and very crunchy croutons (which I love). Two people at our table split the starter wedge salad due to its size — they're bringing out piles of bread, too. Got some loaded whipped potatoes on the side with the entrees which was basically a meal in and of itself ($16). Based on the amount of food that you get, the prices are totally worth it.

Then, I wrapped up with a Rocky Road Bread Pudding that was literally the size of my head. I tasted some lemon bar and some of their cheesecake, too…thumbs up all around. There were also bananas Foster being lit on fire tableside around us…pretty cool. Anyways, I typically do the stupid thing and try to wrap up what's on my plate when I'm close to being done but full — yeah, no chance here. Boxes out the wazoo, but none of us were claiming that we had Monday's meals covered.

We had a reservation for 5:45 PM on Sunday night, but the dining room was absolutely packed so we had to wait about 15 minutes for our table for five. Not a big deal. I forgot about it once we started eating, but worth noting that it cleared out pretty well after 7:00 PM if you’re looking for a quieter atmosphere. Apparently weekday lunches are packed too…makes sense. Drive up to the restaurant and do valet parking — they comp it and you won't spend forever looking for a spot just to forget where you parked (been there).

If you're interested in trying out the pork chop, they've got the following specials for you

Valentine's Day in Douglas County

Valentine's Day is next Saturday — and whether you're planning a full-on date night, a Galentine's outing, or just trying to do something that isn't Netflix on the couch, there's actually a lot happening around Douglas County. Here's the rundown.

Free (Yes, Free)
Noire The Nail Bar in Highlands Ranch is hosting a Galentine's night on Thursday, Feb 12 from 6-9 PM — and the first 30 people to RSVP get a free mani or pedi gift card. That's not a typo. RSVP by Feb 10 because this will fill up.

Under $30
Upper Deck at The Parker Hotel has a Valentine's Day comedy night on Saturday, Feb 14 with national headliners Sam Adams and Stephanie McHugh. $20, 21+, doors at 6:30 PM.

Wild Goose Saloon in Parker is throwing a Cranberry Vogue Party on Saturday, Feb 14 at 7 PM — aerial act by Belle Bellas, raffle for a gift basket, and drink specials all night. $18.70.

Lone Tree Brewing is doing a beer and dessert pairing on Saturday, Feb 14 from 3-4:30 PM — four beers paired with desserts from Time for Dezzerts. Around $28. This is an afternoon date before your evening date. Or just your date. No judgment.

Date Night
Southridge Rec Center in Highlands Ranch has a wine tasting on Wednesday, Feb 11 from 7-8:30 PM — Old World vs. New World wines paired with small bites, guided by winemakers Spencer and Ari Pedemonte. $35.50. It's midweek, so you beat the Saturday rush and still get credit for planning ahead.

Painting with a Twist in Lone Tree has two Valentine's options — a Cosmic Love black light couples painting on Saturday, Feb 14 from 7-9 PM ($40-50/person, candle-making add-on available), or a Bottomless Mimosa Valentine's Morning couples painting from 11 AM-1 PM with $17 bottomless mimosas if you want to paint earlier and still have dinner plans (don’t be surprised if you miss them).

Board & Brush in Parker is running a date night on Saturday, Feb 14 from 6:30-9:30 PM — pick your own DIY wood sign project, they supply the tools and the wine. Use code VALENTINE26 for half off the second seat (expires 2/12). They're also doing a Galentine's night on Friday, Feb 13 with a free bonus mini sign — same code works.

Lansdowne Arms in Highlands Ranch is doing a prix fixe Valentine's dinner for two — three courses with options like lobster bisque, surf and turf, and bread pudding, plus a glass of wine or beer each. Check it out here.

Jim Brickman is playing the PACE Center in Parker on Saturday, Feb 14 at 7:30 PM. Grammy-nominated pianist, romantic classics, original love songs. This is the move if your person likes live music and you want zero planning stress.

Go Big
Hudson Gardens in Littleton is hosting a chocolate and wine tasting on Saturday, Feb 14 at 6 PM — bean-to-bar chocolate education plus four wines paired with 10 handcrafted chocolates. $55-60. Worth the drive if you're into wine and chocolate done right.

Main Event in Highlands Ranch is going all out with Sweetheart Strikes on Saturday, Feb 14 from 6-10 PM — Italian dinner buffet, two premium drinks, unlimited bowling, arcade, laser tag, and billiards. Rom-com trivia, singles bingo, raffles. $125/couple or $65/individual. 18+. This is the "we don't take ourselves too seriously" Valentine's date.

Cherokee Ranch in Sedalia is doing a Valentine's Tea on Friday, Feb 13 and Saturday, Feb 14 at 1 PM — champagne, warm scones, finger sandwiches, and pastries with clotted cream, followed by a one-hour guided tour of the castle. $74.95. Dressy attire encouraged. Non-refundable, so commit. This will sell out.

Oakwell Beer Spa in Highlands Ranch is running Valentine's week packages from Feb 10-16 — beer baths in private suites, massages, mimosa bar, and taproom access. Works for couples or Galentine's groups.

Get Active
The Love 'em or Leave 'em 5K/10K is on Saturday, Feb 14 at 10 AM at Salisbury Equestrian Park in Parker. Scenic trails, post-race pancakes from Flippin' Flapjacks, beer from Two22 Brew (21+), and a free Kids' Dash for ages 8 and under. 5K is around $49, 10K around $60 — price goes up after Feb 13.

That's a ton of options across every budget and vibe. Pick one, book it, and stop overthinking it. Good luck out there.
