Anglers can now catch-and-keep Walleye, Largemouth Bass, and Yellow Perch, and electric trolling motors are officially allowed (with some size and use restrictions). Don’t forget to grab your free daily fishing permit along with your state license. These changes aim to enhance your experience while protecting water quality—learn more and plan your next visit today!

McMahon Breaks Slump, Lifts Rockies to 3-2 Win Over Reds in Series Opener
TLDR: Ryan McMahon snapped out of a brutal slump with a three-hit night, including a 414-foot two-run blast and a key infield single that set up the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, as the Rockies edged the Reds 3-2 in Cincinnati. Germán Márquez turned in his best outing of the year, allowing just one run over six strong innings. Despite 16 strikeouts, Colorado held on thanks to Victor Vodnik’s clutch save, securing their first win of the road trip and improving to 22-72. With trade rumors swirling, McMahon picked the right time to shine.

The Douglas County Commissioners Just Approved a Record-setting $167,125 Rodeo Purse.
TLDR: The Douglas County Fair & Rodeo is making big moves as part of the PRCA Playoff Series—an elite circuit featuring the best in pro rodeo. With top talent and a projected $300,000+ total payout, this event is now a serious contender on the national stage. Catch it all July 31–August 3 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

Rockies Draft Matt Holliday’s Son, Ethan, with No. 4 Pick in 2025 MLB Draft
TLDR: Nearly three decades after drafting Matt Holliday, the Rockies have selected his son Ethan Holliday, a power-hitting Stillwater High phenom and Baseball America’s 2025 High School Player of the Year, with the 4th overall pick in the MLB Draft. Ethan, a 6'4" lefty slugger with big-league bloodlines, hit .611 with 19 HRs and a 2.038 OPS in his senior season. He now headlines Colorado’s future infield alongside last year’s top pick Charlie Condon and rising star Ezequiel Tovar. While the Rockies’ farm system still needs pitching depth, this pick gives fans real hope after three 100-loss seasons — and a new Holliday era to believe in.

Tried & True

⛪️ Tried & True: Scileppi’s at The Old Stone Church - A slice of Sicily in a sacred space.

Housed in Castle Rock’s first church, built in 1888, Scileppi’s blends reverence with red sauce in the best possible way. The original stone bones are still intact—but now filled with a different kind of communion, one with clinking glasses and pizza pies done right.

The Scileppi family immigrated from Sicily to New York in the early 1900s. A few generations later, brothers Mike, Vinnie, and Lou—who grew up on Long Island—moved to Colorado with their parents in the ’90s. They’ve been building restaurants ever since, and this one might be their crown jewel.

The menu covers all the bases:
🍝 House-made pastas
🍕 East Coast-style pizza
🥗 Gluten-free options that don’t feel like an afterthought
🍰 And dessert worth every calorie—don’t sleep on the PB Cup Reese Pie (yes, it’s gluten-free) or the Colossal Cheesecake (yes, I had both)

There’s even one confessional-style booth where two can eat—perfect for date night if you’re lucky enough to snag it. Just try not to confess too much if it’s a first date.

Whether you’re coming in with friends, family, or flying solo at the bar, this place delivers comfort, charm, and consistently good food.
