Parker's Best Kept Rooftop

I stopped by Briere West End’s Pop-Up Market at The Parker Hotel over the weekend and finally got a look at the Upper Deck, and it has one of the best rooftop patio views in Parker. Briere West End is the events company that covers the spaces at the hotel including Upper Deck, The Summit Room, The Roosevelt Room, and The Hospitality Room, plus they’re owned by the same group that owns Ovest Via, West Main Taproom, and more.

The Upper Deck is on the second floor of The Parker Hotel (above Ovest Via). It's a rooftop venue with great mountain views, a private bar, and space for up to 150 guests. I also peeked into the Summit Room — an elegant indoor space atop the hotel that I’m already scheming how to use for an event (Dinner Club after party maybe?).

I met Beau, the new manager over at Ovest Via, and really enjoyed our conversation. He’s bringing the energy to the different spaces as well as the social media accounts. The next big event to be held at the Upper Deck: a Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 2nd from 3-6pm. Mint juleps and Southern Peach cocktails, elevated appetizers, best hat contest for the ladies, best dressed contest for the guys, live music, and the race broadcast on the big screen. Tickets are $55 (GA) or $65 (VIP with 2 drinks included).

If you've been looking for a venue for an upcoming event — or just want to grab drinks with a view — it's worth checking out.

Upper Deck Hours: Thursday 4pm-10pm | Friday and Saturday 4pm-11pm

Worth the Drive: 10th Annual 5K Poker Run at Bear Creek

A local DougCo volunteer tipped us off to this one, and it's too good not to share. The Friends of the Equestrian Skills Course is hosting their 10th Annual 5K Poker Run, Ride, Walk & Horse Cart Drive at Bear Creek Regional Park in Colorado Springs on Saturday, April 25.

This isn't a race. Show up between 8:30am-9:30am, start whenever you're ready, and hit 5 stops around the park to collect cards. Gather at 11:30am to see who's got the best hand—prizes for winners and a custom mug for everyone.

The real draw? The 12-acre Equestrian Skills Course is the only one of its kind in the entire country. Free, open year-round, and built entirely by volunteers. Whether you're on foot, with a burro, or driving a horse cart, this is Colorado trail culture at its best.

Sat 4/25 | 8:30am–12pm | Bear Creek Regional Park, Colorado Springs
